- Foreign citizens traveling or living in Mexico are subject to all laws in Mexico.
- For U.S. tourists | The Department of State of U.S. cannot:

I. Get U.S. citizens out of jail.
II. State to a court that anyone is guilty or innocent.
III. Provide legal advice or represent U.S. citizens in court.
IV. Serve as official interpreters or translators.
V. Pay legal, medical, or other fees.

Are the safety assistants/Attorneys bilingual?

Our safety assistants and attorneys throughout the Mexican Republic are bilingual and highly skilled personnel who handle claims and are ready to help you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.

Can I wait to purchase my MEXSHIELD Assistance Plan after I'm arrested or I have a problem in Mexico?

Unfortunately no; once an incident has occurred during the trip, the purchase of the MEXSHIELD Assistance service can no longer be applicable. You have to purchase the service at least 24 hours before your date of departure. Please consult the MEXSHIELD Assistance Terms of Use

Once I purchase my MEXSHIELD Assistance Plan, do I receive a confirmation document with instructions?

Yes, you will receive an email with your certificate and full instructions in case of emergency.

Your family will receive a notification email and instructions on what to do if you experience any problems during your trip, these instructions will include our MEXSHIELD emergency contact numbers, which are available 24 hours a day, 7 day a week and 365 days a year.

You can register the data of your emergency contact before you checkout your order, please verify that all their data is correct and properly updated.

Does MEXSHIELD offer me, if needed, additional legal services during my stay in Mexico?

Yes, but that service is only by referral and is your option to acquire the service with additional cost and fees. For more information please contact us

How can I get in touch with the attorney or safety assistant once I have a problem?

What is the approximate time that one would wait to expect and see an attorney/safety assistant once there is an incident?

It all will depend on the location and hour when the service was requested. There are factors thatcould affect the arrival of our safety assistant/attorney such as traffic, weather conditions, due process just to name a few.
